Recreational

Soccer is a great way to introduce children to sports through team play. SCCYSA emphasizes teaching the fundamentals of soccer and REQUIRES that each child plays at least one half of each game. SCCYSA’s recreational outdoor program is designed to develop and challenge players, but most of all, allow them to have fun. SCCYSA is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization committed to providing our community with a value priced, high quality soccer program. Over 3000 kids participate each season.

Recreational=Individual player registration where teams made from player pool. These teams cannot have try-outs, no advertisement of any kind, or be hand selected by a coach or any other member on the team.

Spr 2013

REGISTRATION FOR SPRING 2013 is CLOSED. We will begin registration for fall in June.

GAME LOCATION: Games are played at the following complexes: U8 and younger: Woodlands (off Mid Rivers Mall Dr. by Community College) & U9 and older Soccer Complex on Mueller Rd. (Hwy 370 and Elm St.). Bring your own chair and please leave your pets at home. Due to previous incidents, SCCYSA would prefer pets are not at the soccer venues.

UNIFORMS/GEAR:  All players will receive a uniform (jersey, shorts & socks) for the fall season.  Only new players recieve uniforms in the spring. Uniform must always be the outermost clothing article worn during games. Shin guards are REQUIRED to participate in SCCYSA practices and games and practices. Soccer cleats are optional, yet they are highly recommended (due to possible wet grass conditions). We DON’T allow baseball cleats (a baseball cleat has a cleat on the front of the sole) or football (rectangular cleats on the outmost part of the sole). Just a reminder JEWELRY (including earrings) is NOT allowed during games! Each player should have a soccer ball for practice at home. The league does not provide soccer balls for players.  Participation awards are provided for all ages.

All players must register for each season. New players are welcomed and will be placed on teams. SCCYSA strives to balance teams when adding players into the division, and therefore, requests to play for a specific coach or with a specific player will only be honored at the discretion of the SCCYSA board. Additionally, if desired, parents may request their child to be placed onto a different team at the conclusion of any season.

SCHEDULE: Regular scheduled games are primarily played on Saturdays between 8am-5pm and Sundays between 12pm-5pm. High School games are played during the week and on Sunday evenings. Opening weekend will be March 2 & 3, 2013. We make every effort to play 8 regular season games. Mother Nature does not always cooperate with our schedule so make up games are held weeknight evenings and weeknights where lit fields are available and only if needed.

PRACTICES: SCCYSA does not provide practice schedule or practice locations. SCCYSA Coaches are parent volunteers; and they will be responsible for scheduling the place and time for practice, if they choose. Practices, if done, are typically scheduled once a week and are generally located at schools and parks.  Practices may start anytime after Feb 4.

The registration fee includes a jersey, shorts and socks and a participation award. Returning Player registration fee does not include uniform. Players are not asked to sell candy/promotional goods.

Once you have signed up, you will not hear from your coach until after Feb 19. If you do not hear from a coach by Feb 19 please call the office.
