CHAMPIONS WEEKEND

 

The Board of Directors are excited to announce the Weekend of Champions (“WOC”) will be playing the weekend of November 11 & 12, 2017. Games will be played at Mueller for the U9 through U14 teams and Woodlands for the U7 through U8 teams.  Teams will have two games on Saturday, (a morning game and an afternoon game); some teams may advance to play on Sunday with games starting at 12 noon.  Unlike league play where all players receive a participation trophy, each team will have to earn their first or second place trophy.

The top four teams in U7 – U14 from each division will play. Please note that even in the standings if your team is not in the top 4, you may have a possibility to play in the tournament if one of the top 4 teams may not be able to participate. The office may contact you as you are next eligible team to play in the tournament. Please let your team know that they may have an opportunity to play in the tournament. 

The qualifications for playing in the “WOC”:

·                  Top four teams in each age/color bracket (blue, green, orange, red, or yellow)

·                  Teams with an infraction of illegal players will not play

·                  Teams with players that acquired a red card in regular league play;  that player is not eligible to participate in the tournament

·                  Head-to-Head

Rules

·No Guest Players are allowed in the tournament

·Co-Ed Teams will play in the Boys Division

·New players will NOT be added to rosters solely for the tournament. All players (including dual roster players) must be on the roster prior to September 15

·Dual roster players that have conflicting scheduled times must play with one team; schedule changes will NOT be made to accommodate dual roster players

·It is the responsibility of the Head or Assistant Coach to verify their rosters in Got Soccer in their Team Accounts to make sure they are accurate. If a player is not listed on their roster, they will NOT be able to play in WOC

·Scheduled times of the games are FINAL, there will NOT be changes made to tournament schedule and/or times

·Regardless of weather conditions, coaches and their teams must appear on the field, ready to play as scheduled. Failure to appear will result in forfeiture of the game. Only referees/Tournament Judicial Committee can postpone or cancel a game.

·In the event inclement weather forces cancellation of a game after at least 20 minutes have been played, the game shall be considered official and the score at the point of cancellation shall be the final score.

·If any teams are past the 10 minute mark of the start of the game time, this will be considered a FORFEIT, and teams will not advance

·All players must be present at the time of roster check, players will NOT be allowed to enter the game once it has started until half time

·All games are FINAL! No protests are accepted and the decision on the field is final

·Players receiving a red card or a total of two yellow cards during the tournament will be ineligible for their team's next game. The Tournament Judicial Committee reserves the right to suspend or expel any player, coach, or spectator from the tournament for unruly conduct

·The referee of each game will forward to the appropriate field marshal his/her official written game report, including the final score, the name and number of each coach, player, or person cautioned or ordered from the field, and reason for any such disciplinary action. The coach of each team must sign the game report at the end of each game.

·Coaches are held strictly accountable for the conduct of their teams, parents and supporters. Abusive behavior toward the referee, opponents or tournament staff will NOT be tolerated. Such misconduct and breaches of sportsmanship shall be turned over to the Tournament Judicial Committee for possible suspension or forfeit of the game

 

 

Weather Policy

The Weekend of Champions is scheduled for November 11 – 12. If Saturday is rained out, games will be moved to Sunday with the same field and times; there will NOT be an Overall Age Group Championship Games that had been originally scheduled for Sunday. If Sunday is rained out, games will stand from Saturday, and there will NOT be an Overall Age Group Championship Games.

 

TIED GAMES (Regular Division Games)

At the end of time regulation, precede to penalty kicks. The away or visitors team will call the coin toss.  If they get the coin toss correct, they get to choose who shoots first or second.  If they lose the coin toss, the home team gets to select.  5 shooters from each team will alternate shooting. If still tied after 5 shooters, it goes to sudden death penalty kicks keeping the same order, alternating team shooter. All the players on the field will take a shot, (no bench players) before the first shooter can shoot again, including goalies.

TIED GAMES (Championship Games)

At the end of time regulation if the game is still tied, 2- five minute halves (10 minutes total) of sudden death (first to score wins).
